Project Description
The Golden 1 Center is located in the heart of Sacramento at the former Downtown Plaza Mall in an entertainment zone now known as Downtown Commons, or DoCo. The multi-use arena is an iconic civic space that works 365 days a year and celebrates the best of Sacramento and all it has to offer by incorporating indoor and outdoor design elements. It’s being called the “highest-tech stadium in sports” with a 4K video board, an ultra-interactive app for fans to use during events, and a massive amount of connectivity within the building. When it opened in Fall 2016, there was no other arena like it.

The building frame consists of structural steel/braced frame construction, seats approximately 18,000 people, and has a total gross area of approximately 674,000 square feet.

Services Provided
This project is an example of a UER team effort. Both MatriScope and Signet provided services to this project. Signet provided all onsite inspection and testing related to cast-in-place concrete, shotcrete, precast concrete, floor flatness testing, concrete unit masonry, structural steel framing, UT/NDT, spray applied fireproofing, waterproofing and roofing application. We had a team of inspectors that included a Resident Inspector, four full-time inspectors and five additional inspectors for peak periods of construction. MatriScope led the overall project delivery, offsite inspection of structural steel and related laboratory testing.
