Project Description
The Palo Alto High School Performing Arts Center is a 26,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility. An existing site will be demolished to make way for the new center. The 582 seat theater includes a Meyer sound system, full fly loft and a motorized orchestra pit. The second floor side boxes crate an intimate environment for a theater of this size. An arched ante-proscenium and open coffered ceiling keep multiple catwalks from the audience’s view.

The backstage area includes green rooms, dressing rooms and a staging area for the construction and storage of large props and set pieces. It also contains a black box practice space that can be used as a classroom. The Center sits on a large new plaza with a terraced patio for smaller outdoor gatherings.

Built with the environment in mind, it features passive solar design and uses many environmentally sustainable materials and healthy building systems.
